The UAE lane at a glance
| Detail | What applies on this lane |
|---|---|
| Origin gateways | Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mumbai Air Cargo Complex, with inland collection across India by road and rail. |
| Destination ports | Jebel Ali and Port Rashid (Dubai), Khalifa Port (Abu Dhabi), Sharjah. Air into DXB, SHJ and AUH. |

| Air transit, indicative | Typically 1–3 days airport to airport, depending on whether the booking is express or consolidated. |
| Sailing frequency | Multiple departures a week, which is why this lane absorbs a missed cut-off better than most. |
| Service types | FCL, LCL consolidation, air freight, dangerous goods under IMDG and IATA DGR, and door-to-door delivery. |
| Documentation | Shipping bill, HS classification, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of origin where claimed, and any product-specific permit, all prepared by our own Mumbai team. |
Why Cargoking
Why the UAE lane is different
The UAE is not only a destination, it is a redistribution hub. A great deal of cargo that lands at Jebel Ali moves on again, into Africa, the CIS, or the wider Gulf. If that is your buyer’s plan, the packing, marking and documentation should be built for the second journey, not just the first.
Free zone deliveries carry their own requirements, and whether your consignee sits inside JAFZA or on the mainland changes the paperwork at the destination end. We check that before booking rather than after the container arrives.
Because transit is short, the time lost to a documentation query is proportionally enormous. A two-day customs hold on a five-day sailing is not a delay. It is a different delivery week. That is the entire argument for preparing the paperwork in-house.
- Jebel Ali, Port Rashid, Khalifa Port and Sharjah
- Free zone and mainland deliveries
- Multiple sailings a week on direct services
- Re-export packing and documentation
How it runs
How a shipment to the UAE is handled
Four stages, each owned by the same coordinator, so nothing is handed between companies while your cargo waits.
Enquiry and routing
Route, commodity, weight or volume and the date go in. Realistic options for the UAE come back with the routing named, usually the same working day.
Documentation first
Shipping bill, classification and any permit the commodity needs are prepared and checked by our own Mumbai team before the cargo leaves your premises.
Booking and carriage
Space is contracted on the service quoted. Under our Multimodal Transport Operator licence a sea-plus-road movement runs on one document.
Destination and delivery
Clearance and onward delivery at the UAE end, reported back through the same coordinator who took your enquiry.
Pricing
One quotation, itemised, with the routing named
A rate without a named service behind it is not a quotation. On this lane we state the routing, the transhipment and the service the rate belongs to, so the delivery date you plan with is one you can defend to your buyer.
Every charge we control is listed. The ones we do not control, duties and statutory taxes, are named rather than buried, so the invoice matches what was agreed.
- Routing and transhipment named in the quote
- Customs and DGFT prepared in-house
- A named coordinator from enquiry to delivery
- Operations desk available 24/7

Transit figures on this page are indicative ranges drawn from public carrier and port data. The quotation confirms the actual service, and duties and statutory taxes are listed separately because the authorities set them.
Common questions
Shipping to United Arab Emirates
Sea freight from Nhava Sheva to Jebel Ali typically runs around 5–7 days port to port on a direct service; air cargo is usually 1–3 days airport to airport. Door-to-door takes longer once cargo cut-off, customs clearance at both ends and inland delivery are added. We confirm the actual schedule against live carrier timings when we quote.
Because transit is short and sailings are frequent, LCL consolidation works well here, because you are not waiting weeks for a consolidation to fill. FCL makes sense once your volume approaches a container. Air is worth the premium mainly when the delivery date decides the commercial outcome, since the sea alternative is already fast.
Yes. Free zone and mainland deliveries have different documentation requirements at the destination, so we confirm which applies before the booking is placed rather than discovering it on arrival.
It changes the packing and the paperwork. Cargo that will move on to Africa or the CIS should be packed and marked for the second journey, and the certificate of origin and commercial documents need to support the onward movement. Tell us at enquiry stage and we will build the file for it.
Commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, your Importer Exporter Code, correct HS classification and the transport document, plus a certificate of origin where a preference is claimed and any product-specific permit. We prepare and check the set before the cargo is handed over.
